Character Overview

Pros

  • Provides a good teamwide DMG% buff based on her Total ATK.
  • Gives a decent ATK% buff to Hexerei Anemo characters.
  • Grants a hefty Flat ATK buff to the on-fielder at C6.
  • Enables other characters’ Hexerei Passives.

Cons

  • Needs to Swirl from off-field to activate her buffs, which limits her team options.
  • Deals fairly low personal damage, especially with high ER requirements.
  • Struggles to build enough ER and ATK at C0.
  • Has an incredibly long kit description.

Playstyles

Off-Field Support

Prune uses her Skill then Burst before swapping to her teammates. Her Burst remains active while she is off-field, periodically attacks enemies, and applies Anemo. If a periodic attack triggers Swirl, Prune gives her team members the Tolling Rally effect for 5s, which buffs their DMG Bonus, ATK% (for Hexerei Anemo units), and Flat ATK (at C6).

Talents

Level and Talent Priority

Talent levels do not affect any of Prune’s buffs, so heavy investment in Talents is not necessary. Level 90 helps Prune reach her 4000 ATK requirement more easily, but the ATK gain from Lv. 80/90 to Lv. 90/90 is quite small. As such, Prune’s Levels should not be prioritized over directly improving the team’s damage dealers.

Talent Overview

Normal Attack
Normal Attack | Badaboom! Hexbuster Hammer

Normal Attack
Performs up to 3 attacks by swinging the Banehunter Oathhammer, dealing Anemo DMG.

Charged Attack
Consumes a certain amount of Stamina and performs an upward hammer swing, dealing Anemo DMG to opponents in front.

Plunging Attack
Calling upon the power of Anemo, she plunges towards the ground from mid-air, damaging all opponents in her path. Deals AoE Anemo DMG upon impact with the ground.

Prune’s Normal Attack Talent consists of feeble attacks that are used solely to apply Anemo.

Elemental Skill
Elemental Skill | Ring-A-Ding-Ding! Hexhunter Chime

Unleash the wind’s might to defeat the evil witch and save Descartes! Prune strikes the Witchlure Bell with her Banehunter Oathhammer, dealing Anemo DMG.
If Prune triggers Swirl on an opponent using this attack, Ring-A-Ding-Ding! Hexhunter Chime will be changed to Clang Clang! Witch-tribution Comes! for the next 6s.

Clang Clang! Witch-tribution Comes!
Prune’s hammer is now enshrouded by the element involved in the previous Swirl reaction, causing Banehunter Oathhammer to undergo Elemental Conversion. When activated with a Press, Prune will leap up and kick the Banehunter Oathhammer forward, dealing Elemental DMG of the corresponding type to opponents in front of her.

Prune deals Anemo damage upon using her Skill. If this attack triggers Swirl, Prune can use another instance of her Skill to deal damage of the corresponding Element that has just been Swirled. This second Skill use is considered a Banehunter Oathhammer attack.

Prune generates 5 Anemo particles on her first Skill hit.

Elemental Burst
Elemental Burst | The Bell Tolls! The Hunt Is On!

Prune gently swings the Witchlure Bell, dealing Anemo DMG to nearby opponents. After this, the Bell will enter the Hunter-Seeker mode.

Witchlure Bell: Hunter-Seeker
In this mode, the Witchlure Bell will follow the current active character, attacking surrounding opponents at intervals and dealing AoE Anemo DMG. This DMG is considered Elemental Burst DMG.

Prune deals Anemo damage upon using her Burst. Afterwards, she summons a Witchlure Bell that follows the active character and attacks nearby enemies at a specific interval. This Witchlure Bell lasts for 12s, can summon Banehunter Oathhammer attacks via her A1 Passive, and is the main way of maintaining her buffs.

Ascension 1 Passive
Ascension 1 Passive | Verdict and Punishment

During the Elemental Burst The Bell Tolls! The Hunt Is On!, after the Witchlure Bell in Hunter-Seeker mode deals DMG to an opponent, if this DMG triggers Swirl on an opponent, it will also summon a Banehunter Oathhammer that will deal 150% of Prune’s ATK as DMG to them, with the DMG Type matching the Elemental Conversion from the Swirl. This DMG is considered Elemental Burst DMG.

When Witchlure Bell triggers a Swirl reaction, it deals an additional Banehunter Oathhammer attack of the corresponding Element that was Swirled. Note that unlike the Oathhammer attack from her Skill, these additional attacks during her Burst do not apply the corresponding Element.

Ascension 4 Passive
Ascension 4 Passive | Tolling Synchronicity

After Prune hits an opponent with the Banehunter Oathhammer that has undergone Elemental Conversion, other nearby party members will gain the Tolling Rally effect for 5s: When Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attacks, or Elemental Skills and Bursts deal DMG to opponents, that attack’s DMG will be increased based on the portion of Prune’s ATK in excess of 2,000 when they become affected by the Tolling Rally effect. Every excess ATK point increases that instance of DMG by 0.025%, up to a total of 50% max.

Whenever Prune performs a Banehunter Oathhammer attack (either from her second Skill or her A1 Passive), she grants all party members except herself the Tolling Rally effect for 5s. The Tolling Rally effect provides a DMG% buff to Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Plunging Attacks, Skills, and Bursts based on Prune’s Total ATK. This buff only starts counting if Prune has over 2000 ATK, and she needs 4000 ATK to cap out the buff for 50% DMG Bonus.

Note that ATK buffs that scale off a character’s stats such as Bennett’s Burst or Nicole’s Skill do not count toward this passive.

Hexerei: Secret Rite
Hexerei: Secret Rite | Witchseeker’s Vow

After completing Witch’s Homework: Of What Is Contested, Prune becomes a Hexerei character. When the party includes at least 2 Hexerei characters, you gain the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect, which enhances Hexerei characters.

Hexerei: Secret Rite
After a Hexerei character in the party affected by the Tolling Rally effect triggers an Elemental Reaction on an opponent, Prune’s ATK is increased by 60% for 5s. If the Elemental Reaction triggered is a Swirl Reaction, the triggering character’s ATK will additionally be increased by 30% for 5s.

When there is another Hexerei unit in the team, Prune gains 60% ATK for 5s when a Hexerei teammate with the Tolling Rally effect (excluding Prune) triggers a reaction. This helps reach 4000 ATK more easily.

Additionally, if this Hexerei teammate is Anemo (e.g. Varka, Venti, Sucrose), they also receive a 30% ATK buff from Prune.

Constellations

Constellation 1
Constellation 1 | With a Vow to Rescue, the Journey Begins

After the Banehunter Oathhammer that has undergone Elemental Conversion hits an opponent, Prune will regain 2 Energy. This effect can occur once every 1.8s.

At C1, after Banehunter Oathhammer hits an enemy, Prune gains 2 Energy. This has a 1.8s cooldown. Prune can trigger this once from her second Skill, and at regular intervals during her Burst. See the table below for exact Energy gains with different Constellations.

During BurstUsing Second Skill
C0–C5+12 Energy+2 Energy
C6+16 Energy+2 Energy

A helpful Constellation that decreases ER requirements by ~30%.

Constellation 2
Constellation 2 | Useful for Cleaning Messy Baggage, Elemental Powers Are Indeed

During the Elemental Burst The Bell Tolls! The Hunt Is On!, when the Witchlure Bell is in Hunter-Seeker mode, Prune gains the Hunt the Witch effect: Prune’s ATK increases by 10%, and when the Witchlure Bell and the Banehunter Oathhammer that has undergone Elemental Conversion hits an opponent, it further increases her ATK by 5%. Prune’s ATK can be increased by up to 40% in this way.
The original instance of the above effect will be removed if “The Bell Tolls! The Hunt Is On!” is used again during this time.

At C2, Prune gains 10% ATK after using her Burst and another 5% after each Witchlure Bell or Banehunter Oathhammer hit. Prune achieves this maximum ATK% buff at 40% after 6 combined Witchlure Bell and Banehunter Oathhammer hits.

This Constellation grants herself more ATK for her A4 buff.

Constellation 3
Constellation 3 | The Caravan Exits the Mountain Pass, the Scenery Once More Changed

Increases the Level of The Bell Tolls! The Hunt Is On! by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.

+3 Burst Talent Level increase, which has little impact.

Constellation 4
Constellation 4 | Looking Back Following the Wind, One’s Shadow Still Halved

After the Banehunter Oathhammer that has undergone Elemental Conversion hits an opponent, it will ricochet and land on a nearby opponent, dealing 80% ATK as DMG of the corresponding Elemental Type.

At C4, each Banehunter Oathhammer attack from Prune’s Skill and A1 will deal an additional hit.

Constellation 5
Constellation 5 | 100 Defeats? No Problem, Tomorrow, We Go Again

Increases the Level of Ring-A-Ding-Ding! Hexhunter Chime by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.

+3 Skill Talent Level increase, which has an even smaller impact than C3.

Constellation 6
Constellation 6 | And That’s the Story! Share It With Your Friends!

The duration of the Witchlure Bell’s Hunter-Seeker mode from the Elemental Burst The Bell Tolls! The Hunt Is On! is extended by 4s.
Additionally, after party members affected by Tolling Rally trigger any Elemental Reaction, they will cause Prune and the other current active character(s) affected by Tolling Rally to gain 350 ATK for 5s.

This is Prune’s best Constellation.

Prune’s Burst is extended by 4s, which allows for 2 additional Witchlure Bell attacks. This results in longer Tolling Rally effect uptime and additional C1 Energy gains. Additionally, when Prune’s teammates with Tolling Rally effect trigger a reaction, Prune and the active character gain 350 Flat ATK for 5s. Not only is this a good buff to any ATK scaler, but it also helps reach Prune’s 4000 ATK threshold more easily.

E(E)QIn general, Prune only casts her Skill then Burst before swapping to her teammates.

You should normally skip Prune’s second Skill. However, she can use her second Skill before her Burst to gain extra 2 Energy from her C1, or to increase the chance of proccing Favonius Codex’s passive. Nevertheless, this increases her field time, and Prune may not catch her particles before the Burst’s Energy drain happens, which leads to Energy issues in the subsequent rotation.
2[E] > Teammate > QPrune can use her Skill and Burst separately across the rotation to maintain better 4pc VV and A4 Passive uptime when her cooldowns do not line up well with the rest of the team.

ER Requirements

Calcs for ER requirements can be found here (last updated for Version Luna VII). Other scenarios not shown in the table below are also included.

Double Anemo185–205%150–170%140–160%
Solo Anemo245–285%205–235%190–220%

R5 Oathsworn Eye decreases Prune’s ER requirements by around 30–35% because of its passive’s short uptime.

Using Favonius Codex decreases Prune’s ER requirements by around 30–50%. Additional team’s Favonius proc decreases Prune’s ER requirements by around 15–30%.

Use the Energy Recharge Calculator to determine exact requirements for your team and rotation.  For more details on how Favonius weapons will affect your team, please use Ac1d’s Favonius Mastersheet.

ATK% OR ERATK%ATK%

Stat Priority: ER until requirement > ATK% > CRIT Rate (with Favonius Codex) > CRIT

After having sufficient ER to Burst every rotation, Prune simply stacks ATK to increase her A4 buffing. A few CRIT Rate rolls can be good to increase her chance of proccing Favonius Codex. Both CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate increase Prune’s personal damage, but the difference is negligible most of the time.

Artifact Sets

4pc Viridescent Venerer

(VV)
As an Anemo character, Prune can hold 4pc VV to shred enemy RES for the Element Swirled by her Skill or Burst while she is on-field.

4pc Celestial Gift

(Celestial)
4pc Celestial can be used to buff units such as Venti who deal primarily Anemo damage. However, there is often a better Hexerei holder like Durin or Fischl in such teams.

Additionally, Prune can hold 4pc Celestial if she cannot Swirl the Element of the team’s primary DPS unit while she’s on-field.

4pc Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City
4pc Noblesse Oblige
In Anemo teams, if another character already holds 4pc Celestial, Prune can consider these sets instead to provide further buffs.

Weapons

While Prune’s primary stat goal is 4000 ATK, she can have access to massive amounts of extra ATK from teammate buffs and her own kit (Hexerei Passive, C4, and C6). This allows her to run weapons that provide less ATK and still meet the threshold from said buffs.

Hover over weapon images/names for more information.

5★ ATK Catalysts
Angelos’ Heptades, Crane’s Echoing Call, Skyward Atlas, Memory of Dust, Vivid Notions, Cashflow Supervision

Thanks to their high Base ATK or ATK% from secondary stats and passives, these Catalysts help Prune easily max out her A4 Passive even without additional ATK buffs. Among them, Angelo’s Heptades gives more than 100 ATK at Level 90 over the next best option (Crane’s Echoing Call).

You should not pull for these Catalysts specifically for Prune; use what you have available instead.

4★ Oathsworn Eye

Oathsworn Eye is Prune’s general best 4-star option. It has a high Base ATK for a 4-star weapon, an ATK% secondary stat, and a passive that reduces her ER requirements by around 30–35%. Its only drawback is that it is only available for those who played the flagship event back in Version 2.5.

4★ Flowing Purity
As a craftable Catalyst, Flowing Purity is a more accessible version of Oathsworn Eye without the ER passive. It is one of Prune’s best 4-star options to meet the 4000 ATK threshold, especially in low ER requirement scenarios.

4★ Hakushin Ring
Hakushin Ring performs a bit better than Flowing Purity in high ER requirement scenarios. In terms of team DPS, it can also pull ahead in Electro teams, even if its passive uptime is not great.

4★ Wine and Song
R5 Wine and Song fares a bit lower than Hakushin Ring and a bit higher than Flowing Purity when Prune has high ER requirements. However, it requires you to dash after her Burst to activate its passive that gives her an ATK% buff for 5s.

Overall, not worth getting and using over other options, especially at lower refinements.

4★ Favonius Codex
Favonius Codex can be considered if it is hard to meet Prune’s ER requirements from artifacts alone, or if her teammates appreciate the additional particles. However, these scenarios are rare in her common teams.

Other ER / ATK% Catalysts
Other ER / ATK% weapons can be used if the above are unavailable, although their passives do not provide much utility.

3★ Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers

(TTDS)
Due to its very low Base ATK, TTDS is only recommended if Prune has access to a high amount of ATK buffs. If she can cap out or close to cap out her A4 Passive, TTDS can become one of the best Catalyst options. Otherwise, and most frequently, Prune’s A4 teamwide buff suffers from the lack of ATK so much that TTDS is not worth using over other mentioned options.

Teambuilding

  • Prune specializes in buffing both on-field and off-field teammates with her DMG Bonus.
  • She requires a constant Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo aura to activate all her buffs via Swirl.
  • A Hexerei teammate who can periodically trigger reactions makes it easier to reach Prune’s ATK threshold via her Hexerei Passive.

Teammates

Notable Hexerei Teammates

A Hexerei teammate who can periodically trigger reactions enables Prune’s Hexerei passive, which makes it easier to reach her ATK. Prune also enables the Hexerei Passive of other units and allows them to run 4pc Celestial.

Varka, Venti
Prune is an excellent team member for these damage dealers. Her Hexerei Passive gives 30% ATK to her Hexerei Anemo teammates, while her teamwide DMG% buff also benefits Durin (one of the best teammates in Varka’s and Venti’s teams).

Varka’s and Venti’s particle generation also greatly helps Prune’s ER requirements.

Lohen, Klee, Razor, Mona
These other on-field Hexerei DPS units often feature off-field ATK-scaling damage dealers (e.g. Durin, Fischl) in their teams. As such, Prune can be a good pick for them, but she faces stiff competition from other supports.

Durin, Fischl, Albedo
These off-field damage dealers utilize Prune’s DMG Bonus.

Nicole
Nicole and Prune do not have any direct synergy. Nicole’s ATK buff from her Skill and A1 do not buff Prune’s A4 DMG Bonus. They are still used together because of their valuable buffs for damage dealers, especially Hexerei ones.

Other Teammates

Prune can support any other damage dealer who appreciates 4pc VV’s RES Shred, her A4’s DMG Bonus, or her C6’s Flat ATK buff. However, it is best to pair her with at least one Hexerei teammate to make the most out of her potential as a 4pc Celestial enabler.

Example Teams

This is not a comprehensive list of teams. The inclusion or exclusion of any given team does not necessarily reflect its power level.

Prune — Varka — Durin — Nicole

At low Constellations, Prune competes with Venti for Varka’s Anemo support slot. At C6, she eclipses him in single-target scenarios. Prune uses 4pc VV in this team.

Sample Rotation
Nicole EQ > Durin 2[E]Q > Prune EQ > Varka E N1C 2[N4E] N1

Prune — Venti — Durin — Nicole

Prune performs similarly to Faruzan at equal Constellations. She should hold 4pc Scroll to buff both Venti and Durin.

Sample Rotation
Nicole EQ > Durin 2[E]Q > Prune EQ > Venti EQ N5D N3E N5D N5E N1

Prune — Lohen — Durin — Nicole

Thanks to Prune’s teamwide DMG Bonus, she is one of the best support for this team, especially at C6.

Sample Rotation
Nicole EQ > Durin 2[E]Q > Prune EQ > Lohen combo

Prune — Neuvillette — Furina — Albedo

Prune uses her Skill and Burst separately in this team to maintain better A4 uptime. Albedo should hold 4pc Celestial while Prune should hold 4pc VV.

Sample Rotation
Neuvilette E > Furina ED N1 > Albedo E N1 > Prune Q > Furina Q > Neuvillette C Q E C > Albedo E N1 > Prune 2[E] N1 > Neuvillette 2[C]

Prune — Mavuika — Citlali — Bennett

Even without a Hexerei teammate to activate Prune’s Hexerei Passive, she still provides a decent amount of DMG Bonus and 350 Flat ATK (at C6), which still make her competitive as an Anemo support for non-Hexerei DPS units. For example, in this team, C6 Prune results in higher team DPS than C6 Sucrose, who is already a very good option.

Sample Rotation
Mavuika E > Bennett EQ > Prune EQ > Citlali EQ > Mavuika Q combo

Limited Roster Alternatives

These teams are meant for newer players whose limited roster prevents them from using the teams above; as such, the teams below result in lower damage output.

Prune — Fischl — Keqing — Kirara

Prune uses her Skill and Burst separately in this team to maintain better A4 uptime.

Sample Rotation
Fischl E > Kirara shE > Prune Q > Keqing combo > Fischl Q > Kirara shE > Prune 2[E] > Keqing combo
